What is Academic Advising?

Our mission as Academic Advisors is to facilitate the exploration of transformative educational experience so that students may become engaged university members and active global citizens.

Advisors emphasize the core skills of critical thinking and decision-making, and the value of broad exposure to a diversity of perspectives. In addition to assistance with tasks such as choosing a major and planning course schedules, advisors engage in a broader dialogue with individual students to clarify their academic and personal goals. This includes discussing careers and graduate school plans or pre-professional advising in a number of areas such as pre-health.

All undergraduate students have an assigned academic advisor. To find your advisor’s name, log into our advising system Navigate360, and you’ll see your advisor’s name and a link to contact them listed in your Success Team.

*Note for Autumn 2025 incoming students: You will not be able to access advising through Navigate until after September. Prior to that, you’ll connect with advising during your orientation. If you have urgent questions, please email us at uwbadvis@uw.edu.

Academic Advisors can be contacted in multiple ways:

  • To make an appointment, log into Navigate360 and click “Schedule an Appointment, or use the Navigate App and choose “Appointments”.
  • To message your advisor, log into Navigate360 and find your Advisor’s name under “Your Success Team”. Click on the email icon to message them!

Alternatively, you can always reach out to our advising office by emailing uwbadvis@uw.edu.

*Note: During busy periods, such as registration or the start of the quarter, you may see delays in our response time.

Appointments & drop-ins

Advising appointments are available year-round, Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm, and can be scheduled through our online appointment scheduler or in person at the Academic Advising Center in UW1-160, on the first floor of Founder’s Hall (formerly the 真人线上娱乐 Success Center).

Appointments are 30 minutes long, and during high-demand times like Period 1 registration, calendars fill quickly—so we recommend booking up to two weeks in advance. You’re also welcome to drop in during posted hours for quick questions. Peer advisors and student assistants are available to help with check-ins, basic advising support, and general guidance on campus resources.
